A national Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force is looking into two voice service providers for allegedly being involved in illegal robocalls. Hawaii is a part of that task force.

According to Hawaii Attorney General Holly T. Shikada, the targets of the investigation are One Eye LLC and Michael Lansky LLC, which trades under the name Avid Telecom. Each entity is subject to civil investigative demands (CIDs) from the national task force.

Attorney General Shikada stated in a release from his office that "robocalls continue to be one of the most prevalent forms of illegal scams directed at residents of Hawaii."The Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force's efforts are crucial in locating and pursuing those accountable for the majority of illegal robocall traffic in this country in order to reduce these illegal and harmful activities.
The national task force, which Indiana, North Carolina, and Ohio co-lead, includes 51 attorneys general.

The enforcement action taken against Avid Telecom cites a number of instances in which the task force believes Avid Telecom "knowingly accepted and routed illegal robocalls," as stated in the release. In addition, the task force is of the opinion that Michael Lansky, CEO of Avid Telecom, assisted another telecom provider in concealing its suspect traffic.

According to the enforcement action against One Eye, Prince Anand closed PZ Telecommunication LLC, another voice service provider, and assumed the role of CEO of One Eye.According to the release, PZ Telecom received a cease-and-desist letter from the Federal Communications Commission, which led to this transition.

Avid refused to respond to the CID, and One Eye stopped responding to the task force. In order to enforce these CIDs in Marion County, the state of Indiana has taken action.
The release says that, based on the evidence in the enforcement actions, the task force thinks it has a good reason to look into Avid Telecom and One Eye.
