Vn88 Rezence claimed: As Bale prepares to leave, Wales tops Group G with a victory over Latvia

After a slow start, Vn88 said that Wales took the lead just before halftime (41) when Moore rose to head in a cross from Dan James, helping Wales beat the group's worst team.

Wales topped Latvia 1-0 at home in a Euro 2024 qualifying match thanks to Kieffer Moore's header in the first half.

After retiring in January, Gareth Bale, the former captain of Wales and the country's all-time leading scorer, was honored by fans with a send-off before the game began.

After a slow start, Vn88 said that Wales took the lead just before halftime (41) when Moore rose to head in a cross from Dan James, helping Wales beat the group's worst team.

Due to Nathan Broadhead's goal in Split, Wales are now tied with Zlatko Dalic's squad for first place in Group B on four points, but they have a better head-to-head record.

The Welsh comeback against Latvia

According to w88 rezence, after a promising start, Wales' chances were squandered when Fulham winger Harry Wilson's shot from close range was saved by Latvian goalkeeper Pavels Steinbors after being set up by James' cross.

Page's men slowed down too much and nearly conceded a goal from a corner; Danny Ward had to dive to his left to save a first-time shot by Latvian defender Marcis Oss.

For the majority of the first half, Latvia kept the home crowd quiet, forcing Wales to settle for long-range shots. Moore, Ethan Ampadu Moore, and Wilson all tried their best to outscore Steinbors, but they were ultimately unsuccessful.

Moore scored the game's first goal four minutes before halftime, giving the Cardiff City Stadium a much-needed jolt by heading James' lofted delivery into the bottom corner.

Wales, boosted by their first-half goal, nearly added to their lead early in the second half, but Latvian goalkeeper Steinbors denied shots from Neco Williams and Wilson, with the former's shot being tipped onto the post.

Rezence said that while Wales dominated play and strengthened their position in Group D after two games, Latvia, ranked 133rd in the FIFA world rankings, fought valiantly but was unable to find an equalizer.

Bale says his goodbyes to Wales

At Cardiff City Stadium, the Welsh fans gave Bale a tearful farewell on the field, where he also delivered a final message.

Bale, 33, addressed the sold-out crowd after flying in from his Los Angeles home and said, "I just want to say what an honor it has been to represent my country and play in front of the best fans in the world."

"Through thick and thin, you have stood by me and my loved ones.

"Throughout my entire career, I've appreciated getting to perform for you.

"Thanks to you, it's become what it is, and I promise to cheer just as hard as you do. At some point in the future, we will meet again."

Page: Mission accomplished, but let's not celebrate just yet

Leader in Wales shares on Vn88 rezence:

"We had an idea of what we were getting ourselves into.

"We came away with a draw in Croatia and a victory at home to finish the job. We neutralized their offense and defense to set up a comfortable victory.

"We are aware of Kieffer's significance. His goal in the ninety something minutes he played for us was fantastic.

"There will be no overreaction on our part. This is a fantastic beginning for us. We've had a great start to the season, winning our first two games (out of a total of eight). The locker room has a positive vibe."

On Bale, he elaborated with W88: "Last night, we were joined by Gareth. He joined us for dinner and stopped by to see the guys before the game.

"He got his time in the spotlight with the cheering fans. It would have meant a lot to him."

Wales were more powerful, Kazakevics says

Dainis Kazakevics, head coach for Latvia:

"The Welsh side won. We could have done better, but they had more of the ball and more scoring opportunities.

"We knew going into the game that their main threats were players like Moore and (Aaron) Ramsey, as well as their wingers. They were the focus of our planning.

"This is not a satisfactory outcome," we say.
